The firm was established on September 15, 1998 by Andrew C. Erstad, AIA, and Robert L. Thornton, AIA.  In 2005 we became erstad ARCHITECTS with the idea that architecture should be more than a sum of its parts; that there was a middle ground between firms whose architectural practices were strictly business, and firms whose architectural practices were overly esoteric. Both clients and those who use the buildings, are a key element in architecture, and we believe that buildings should be interesting, humane, safe, and functional. Our mutual belief in this concept, and a respect for each other's professional achievements, led us to where we are today: a 13 person firm with years of diverse architectural experience, strongly rooted in the community.
